It’s been one year since Linode.com opened its doors on June 16th, 2003 and sold its first Linode account. I started this business because of my desire to be independent, and when I saw the usefulness of User-Mode Linux and envisioned the Linode Platform Manager to control it all, I realized what an incredible value a great virtual server technology would bring to the “hosting” industry. And so my journey began…
And what a trip it has been. Over the past year User-Mode Linux has matured, due to the hard work put in by Jeff Dike on and the Open Source community (I’d like to consider myself part of the community). I designed the LPM to provide end-users with complete control over their environments, and it has become a wonderful platform to provide features and functionality giving you very good flexibility. Take pride in knowing the suggestions you’ve provided have made the Linode Platform Manager and the service Linode.com provides more useful and more reliable.
So, in the coming year, you can expect more of the same improvements in performance, reliability, offerings, and service. Just wanted to say thanks for all your suggestions, your business, and your making Linode a success.
Happy Birthday Linode.com! 😀
Sincerely,
-Chris

Like the subject says, thank you for the hard work you’ve put into making Linode.com a fanstastic source for VPS solutions.
Now, if only we could buy more Linodes…. c’mon man, I’ve got money burning a hole in my pocket :).
I think I got the last one. 🙂

yap! Happy Birthday and congratulations to linode 🙂
Great work, Chris!
June 16th? That’s amazing. I had no idea Linode was three days old when I signed up. It felt like it had been around much longer.
Happy Birthday and thanks for offering the service. I love it!
